😇God-ordained “Odd Couples”💞

The LORD God has a history of bringing two unexpected people together for His glory, people who defy conventional wisdom, the proverbial “odd couple”. Examples of people the Lord brought together in holy matrimony, or at least blessed their marriages, include:

💞 Joseph (Hebrew) and Zaphnathpaaneah (Egyptian). The LORD God blessed them with two sons, whose tribes are in the nation of Israel. The sons were certainly gifts from God also based on the reasons for given names:

“And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: ‘For God’, said he, ‘hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.’ And the name of thesecond called he Ephraim: ‘For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.’” ~ Genesis 41:5.-52 (KJV)

💞 Moses (Hebrew) and Zipporah (Cushite), whom the LORD God also blessed with two sons:

“And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, ‘I have been an alien in a strange land’: And the name of the other was Eliezer; ‘for the God of my father’, said he, ‘was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh.’” ~ Exodus 18:3-4 (KJV)

💞 Salmon (Hebrew) and Rahab (Canaanite from Jericho), parents of Boaz, Ruth’s husband and her redeemer.

💞 Boaz (Israelite) and Ruth (Moabite), about whom it is written:

“So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bare a son… And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, and Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.” ~ Ruth 4:13, 21-22

It is important to note that Salmon, Rahab, Boaz, Ruth, Obed, Jesse, and David are listed in the genealogy of Jesus, the Christ (Matthew 1:1-17). On another note, perhaps another “odd” yet blessed couple is or will be you and… However, there is one type of “couple” that God will not bring together. Therefore, please test the spirit before getting into any relationship, especially in part because of the following:

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, ‘I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Wherefore COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM, and BE YE SEPARATE’, saith the Lord, ‘and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters’, saith the Lord Almighty.” ~ 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (KJV)
